There Is More: Don’t Settle for a Glimpse Through the Keyhole

Through The Keyhole

During a time of waiting upon the Lord, I was shown a picture of men and women seeking God for direction or a “word” for the new season. They were standing in a lobby waiting area. Before them stood a LARGE DOOR. Strangely the people couldn’t see where they were standing or the grand door in front of them.

I watched as one caught a whiff of fragrance, another heard a word, still another saw a glimmer of light. Looking up I saw that what they were receiving was coming through a keyhole in the door. Many were immediately content saying, “I have my word. I have experienced something from God.” Then they returned to their business.

Sadness welled up in my heart as I sensed that the Father had SO MUCH MORE He wanted to SHOW, SAY, and GIVE to His children.

A Golden Key

There were a few, however, who continued to WAIT outside the door. They weren’t satisfied with just a whiff or word. The glimpse they saw through the keyhole whet their appetite. They had a HOLY DISCONTENTMENT and DEEP HUNGER for MORE. But it wasn’t just about more…it was about WHOM. Their hearts wanted to look upon the face of the one they loved…Jesus. Deep desire to KNOW Jesus intimately drew them to the door.

To these a LARGE GOLDEN KEY was placed in each hand. The key fit perfectly into the keyhole.

As the door was cracked open blinding light flooded in. Every sense was overcome with the weighty presence of God. Intimacy with God, revelation, wisdom, heavenly treasure, and so much more lay beyond the threshold.

Three Words

Across my vision then scrolled three words. By revelation I understood that these words WERE the Golden Key that UNLOCKED the door: ASK. SEEK. KNOCK.

ASK and keep on asking and it will be given to you; SEEK and keep on seeking and you will find; KNOCK and keep on knocking and the DOOR will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened. -Matthew 7:7-8 (AMP emphasis mine)*

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”-Jeremiah 29:13

*In the words “ask, seek, & knock” the Greek present imperative is used emphasizing PERSISTENT AND CONSTANT prayer or action.

An Invitation

Each word, impression, whiff, and prompting we receive in our day to day lives is a personal INVITATION to so much more. These are cards inviting us to a BANQUET. Yet how many of us take hold of the card as if that is all God has for us. How many times have we missed the feast God had prepared. The sad thing is that many Christians, including myself, have bought into the lie that what we are experiencing through the keyhole is all there is available to us in our relationship with God.

The King of Heaven and Earth came down to purchase access to the throne room and His presence through the shedding of His blood……and we are content to stand outside the door….never entering in.

“Oh, the depth of the RICHES and WISDOM and KNOWLEDGE of God!”-Romans 11:33a

“How ABUNDANT are the GOOD THINGS that you have STORED UP for those who FEAR you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you.”-Psalm 31:19

One Priceless Pearl

God is not a withholding God. He is a Father who loves to give good gifts to His children. But He will not cast His pearls before swine-those who will treat with insulting neglect or disdain what He offers. Instead He invites us into a treasure hunt.

“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter and the glory of kings to SEARCH it out.” -Proverbs 25:2

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in SEARCH of fine pearls. When he found one very precious pearl, he went away and sold all he had and bought it.” -Matthew 13:45-46

There is a cost to gaining and walking in the deeper things of the kingdom of God. Part of the cost is giving up our attachment to the things of this world so that we are not bound to them. He “sold all he had”…all that tied him to this world. There is the cost of dying to self so that we might gain Christ. HE is our treasure and portion.

“But Christ has shown me that what I once thought was valuable is WORTHLESS. Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage. ALL I WANT IS CHRIST”-Philippians 3:7-8 (CEV)

Grand Adventure Awaits

I feel that the Father is wanting to stir up in us a holy discontentment that will settle for complacency no longer. Father God longs to reveal himself to us in so many ways.He wants to stir up our expectations to believe that there is so much more that He wants to give and open to us. He is inviting each of us into a grand adventure….with a treasure hunt along the way.

As believers, we must make room for Him in our lives. We must make time to wait on Him. We must take the time to learn to hear His voice and recognize His ways. Then we need to act upon what He speaks to us.

When a word, whiff, impression or prompting comes… DON’T STOP THERE.

Recognize – that is the invitation through the keyhole.

Take time to SIT ON IT.

Wait on the Lord with expectation.

ASK QUESTIONS.

Listen.

Seek Scripture in regards to what He is speaking.

Study it out.

Ask for confirmation for what He is showing you.

Press in for MORE.

ASK. SEEK. KNOCK. And the door will be opened unto you.

With Blessings,
